Outdoor tea and coloring party

It feels like spring, and when spring comes we usually head to the back deck to soak in some sun! Of course we usually bring some tea and coloring with us!

Do you see what I see

Here is a test, do you see what I see? First one with the right answer gets, well, nothing, but the satisfaction of getting the answer right!

I've got memory

We are heading to Edmonton in just a few days, and with that comes the shopping list! Costco (chocolate chips, toilet paper, etc), Ikea (frames and anything else cool), WEM (clothes and fun stuff) and MEC (backpacks for the kids with a lifetime promise that they will not fall apart!)

We are tired of buying cheap backpacks that fall apart in just a few months. Gracie doesn't even have to undo her zipper to reach her books and toys! So, we thought we should go to Mountain Equipment Co-op and get some lifelong backpacks for them. The only problem, I don't know my life long membership number! You can only buy stuff there with your number and way, way, way back even before Paul and I were married we got a membership. So, I went to the website today to try to find my number. It asked my name. I typed in Karis Truman.... wait.... I wasn't married yet..... Karis Tolhurst.... oh, wait.... I think I remember getting some mail from them like 13 years ago that said my name was Kans Tolhurst (I guess I didn't write my name clearly!).
Hummmm, next they want my phone number! My phone number... what on earth would I have put down for my phone number?? I wasn't married, maybe it was my parents number in Edmonton. What on earth was that phone number?? WAIT.... 487-4795... YA I think that was it, I said it fast in my head and out loud a few times and it sounded right! So, I tried it and.... it worked! I got my membership number! Wow, I got memory!

A Dog Day

I want a dog.... today has been full of dogs and... well... I want a dog. This afternoon after spending some great fun at the sled dog races, this adorable dog came up our ally. It saw Cici and just rolled over for a tummy rub! I thought that she belonged across the ally, looked at her tags and phoned the number. We confirmed that she belonged next door but they weren't home to put her back in the yard with her chocolate lab buddy. So, after playing with her for a bit, we put her back in her yard, by the time we walked back home, she had escaped again! The kids were thrilled, more play time with Switchback! Eventually some friends of our neighbors came over to let the dogs into the house so she wouldn't take off again. We said good bye, but not before we snapped some pics of our new dog friend!

Oh, I forgot to mention that we just happened to have a leash handy that Beaner got for her birthday with a stuffed dog. It came in handy today!!

sled dog races

In town today it was sled dog heaven. Sun, snow and a race! I took the kids this morning to check it out before church. Our church is volunteering for it doing the parking. The kids loved it! Jude loved the dogs, Gracie wanted to be one of the dogs! It was fun, we couldn't stay long as we had to race to church, but we got to pet some great dogs and see the start of one of the races! The dogs were so geared up, they were freaking out right before they were released to run!

A Taste of Spring

We had a little taste of spring today. It started with Jude falling in a very muddy puddle...

Then the fun began....
