Introducing My Niece!

This is Kayleigh and she is so sweet. I had the privilege of taking her picture today. She was awake the whole time, very alert and pretty happy! My ideas for some sleeping shots went out the window but I think the awake ones turned out even better!

My hubby took the camera to snap this one of me cuddling Kayleigh between poses.

It is so fun to be an Auntie and my kids are thrilled to have a cousin. It will be so fun to watch her grow!

WoMAN

Today on a shopping trip to the grocery store, my oldest looks at me and says, "Mom, I just saw a man wearing a pink shirt, a skirt and high heels." I asked the obvious question, "Are you sure it was a man?" I looked around quickly but only women, women that looked like women. I dropped it quick thinking that perhaps she has confused a rather manly looking women as a man. As we were at the car I spotted the pink shirt, black skirt and high heels, it was definitely a man, long grey hair and long grey beard. Not something I expected to come across and have my kids as me to explain it to them. I still haven't gone there, hopefully this will give me a bit of time to perfect my answer before we meet him again. On that same note, I am finding now that the girls are fluent readers I cringe at the bumpers stickers and other signs on people's cars. The other day, Cici read aloud a VERY rude bumper sticker and asked me what it meant. I dismissed it quickly, she kept asking, so I said that it was very rude and we should NOT use those words. Thankfully she is still in the dark about the meaning but I know many explanations will need to be made. This is the hard part of parenting older kids, explaining God's truth and the fallen world. Wish me luck!

High Five

When Paul and I saw all our three kids in our bed READING quietly we gave ourselves a high five. It's the little victories.

Auntie

I am an Auntie for the first time! My niece arrived last night! Kayleigh Elizabeth Truman is a big girl at 8lbs 15 oz! I have a theory that it is all the Truman boy's fault that us wives must bear such large children! I can't wait to meet her but I think I might have too. I am sick, for the first time in months, and don't want to take my germs to my new little niece. Bad timing to say the least. Congrats to my brother and sister in law on their little girl, my girls are so excited to have another girl in the family!

Exciting

I love Facebook, not that I use it very often for my own communications, but I love that I can know what is happening to everyone else! For instance, I just learned that my sister in law is about to deliver her first baby!!! In fact, that was posted an hour ago so baby may already be here!! I am excited! We did know that today was the day early this morning from Paul's brother, so the moment is very near.

Want another Beanerisim? She gave us this one just at dinner tonight.

"Does Jude only have school on the T Days?"  (Does Jude go to school only on Tues and Thurs?)

I think that this one might catch on. I am going to use it from now on, "See you on the next T Day!"

It has been raining here for a few days now and it has thrown me back into the memories of when we used to live here. It smells familiar, it looks familiar. It is weird moving away and then returning 5 yrs later to live somewhere where we had our first child, somewhere where we still have friends, somewhere where you don't get lost. It is a bit weird, good but weird. I had forgotten how much it rains here, I remember when we first lived here over 12 yrs ago, I would email my mom who lived in sunny Sask a sun journal.... I didn't email her very often.

We went to the beach last night in the rain. It was beautiful. As we walked along the pier this is what we saw.

Ok, I know that you can't even tell what that is. It is a Blue Heron, and you can see them all over the place here, but I had never seen one, down by the beach before. It had a mate with him and they were flying REALLY close to us, they are huge!! It was also talking to us which the kids thought was very funny. The birds were trying to hang around the fishermen down on the pier hoping to have a snack!

Here is a video that I found on YouTube that shows the bird better..

Another Beanerisim

Here is another that she gave us tonight.

It is all History

Ok, I have a confession to make. Every night I get all comfy in my bed and turn on the tv to indulge in some new shows to me, new because we never got this channel before. I'm addicted to History. I love it... the History channel that is. It isn't just me though, it is my other half too, he loves just as much. He even stayed up while I slept watching a great episode of American Pickers. The show has got us sucked in and for the past few days there are picking jokes and even imitations in our house. I have even asked Paul to call me Frankie. Don't know why we love the show so much but it is great! I have also come to love Pawn Stars and I am sad to say even Ice Road Truckers. I have even given up watching Dick Van Dyke just to catch an episode on History. History, I love it.

out of the mouth of beaner

There are so many things I love about my second born, her quiet style, her gentleness, her unwavering obedience to rules and the fact that she laughs out loud when watching tv. But of all these, we get the most kicks out of her way she communicates. See, she wants to say things in her own way and she comes up with some great ones sometimes.

Some Beanerisms.

"You keep busting through when I'm trying to talk!"  (You keep interrupting me!)
"It is not IN your business"  (It is none of your business)
"Cha King!"  (Cha Ching, the sound you make when you get something right!)

She is excited about school, she got her "real" teacher today and it was the one she was hoping for although she couldn't articulate why. She is in the same class as a girl that she just started to play with on Fri, I have been praying that she would make a good friend as she struggles with that aspect of school. They both are new to the school and were excited to see that they were in the same class. She lost a tooth last week on the first day of school and another came out today. She is loving the pool here and came home yesterday proclaiming that she can nearly swim on her own. She takes life... and swimming nice and slow, so all this practice in the pool is really helping her! She is enjoying our new life here at her own pace and seems to really enjoying it.

This is our Beaner

That Day Has Come

It is a new day. Finally, the day has come that all our kids are in some type of school. Yes, today is that day. J Man started preschool today and Paul and I enjoyed some well deserved time together, even if it was just an hour. It is a good day.

The Day She Turned 9

The day was Sat, and she turned 9.

The day started like any other day, you know, finding an awesome snail in our 'yard' that let you pick it up and didn't even hide.. that even waited for me to run up and get my camera, fiddle with all the settings till I got it just right.

Then all our family came over and the gift opening began.

Her face shows her amazement at her gift from Grandma and Grandpa, she would have to work 50 weeks to make that much!! She used it to buy some school clothes, a plaid shirt and some rock'n boots!

After the gifts and cake, we hit the Corn Maze. We had so much fun going down the huge slide, pony rides, train and barrel rides, shooting the corn gun and getting lost following Jude in the corn!

She is 9

I can't believe that I have a 9 year old. I am not old enough to have a 9 yr old. I can tell myself this over and over but the fact remains, I have a 9 yr old, and I can prove it. I have lots and lots of pictures of birthday fun coming but I just can't get to it yet. Pictures of the gifts, the family, the huge cake and all the fun that we had at the Corn Maze. But, you will be happy to know that there is video, a great video that my amazingly talented brother who is going to film school put together last night. So, I will share that with you now. Enjoy.
