If We Were Dora the Explorer

Sometimes I don't know how we get talking about certain things, but somehow yesterday the conversation turned out a deep and thought provoking question.

"If you were a Dora character, who would you be?"

If you don't have small children, or are not a grandparent, or have never been in a toy store in the last 10 years, you probably don't know who Dora the Explorer is. It is a tv show geared for preschoolers and all our children when they were that age LOVED this show. Us parents tolerated it, well, until her cousin Diego (an animal rescuer) got his own show, then we were hooked just like our kids! Anyway, it teaches spanish to your little ones and asks the kids to answer questions and to 'help' them on their adventure.

But, if you know all the characters......

"If you were a Dora character, who would you be?"

Here is our answer.

I would be backpack.

Backpack is always there for Dora. Whenever they need help they ask backpack for it. She carries everything that they would ever need and is always there for them. Totally me.

Paul would be map.

Map is always asked for the big picture. He knows what needs to happen and gives the plan to the rest of them. He might be a little repetitive but it is only to make sure everyone knows what to do. The big picture leader.

Beaner would be Isa the Iguana.

Isa is very sweet. She is caring and loves flowers. She may not be the leader of the pack but is willing to help where she can. You can always depend on her.

J Man would be boots.

Boots is Dora's adventure buddy. He is a little goofy and may not be able to solve his own problems yet, but is willing to join Dora on whatever adventure she is on. He also sometimes hides at the end of the show.

And Cici? Well, no surprise here, she would be Dora.

Dora is the leader. She is verbally directive with a strong, confident and sometimes loud voice. She is brave, compassionate and gets things done. She is an imaginative problem solver who cares for people.

So, there you have it.

Who would you be?

The 'Farm'

There is a place near us that locals have been telling us about. It is a 'farm' that is in Fort Langley that is nestled in the suburbs. My kids went a few times while I was recovering and loved it. It is the craziest place I have seen. Among all the houses sits this 'farm'. It has all these amazing animals and birds right there by the side of the road for everyone to see. You can go and feed the animals, put a few dollars in a box and get yourself some fresh eggs and marvel at all the work they have put in to build a HUGE goat habitat with walkways and their own tree houses! The day I went we didn't bring any food with us but there was another mom there with her teenage daughters with BAGS of food. She shared with us and my kids had so much fun feeding the animals. If you live in the area I suggest going. Take 88th to Wright, turn left and it is at the end, you can't miss it!

Play date with Nana

Yesterday J Man and I headed over to Nana's house for a play date. Nana has the best play dates. Maybe it is because of all her amazing friends we can play with too.

Shutter Bug

IMGP0478

This is our newest shutter bug. Well, maybe not new, she has always loved taking pictures. When she was around 3 or 4 we got her a pink fisher price camera that she loved. It took horrible pictures but was indestructible. The other night she was taking pictures and then realized in horror that all the special pictures she had taken were gone, erased from the camera. I have hardly ever seen her so upset. After much consoling the idea was hatched that perhaps she is old enough to have her very first REAL camera. She LOVED the idea and today was the day that she got it. The more amazing part to the story is that she paid for almost the entire thing herself. She has been saving up her money from birthdays, chores and Christmas and we were shocked at how much she had. She picked this camera for 3 reasons she told me when we got home. It was easy to use, it is pretty and it is light. Sounds good to me!
