I'm Moving

Yup, the day is almost here, to leave and see our new house. Ahhh, moving. Not so much fun. Today is the day that the kitchen gets packed and am so thankful my mom is here to do it for.. er.. with me. We get the keys tomorrow to our new place, and then will be able to share pictures of it! It is also the last day of school for the kids which they are soooo excited about, and frankly, so am I. Lets get this summer started already!! You'll hear next from me when I am a Port Moody resident!

Heads Up

Just measured all our heads for fun. Here is how we rank from smallest to biggest...

Jude and Cici -same size (20in)
Me (just over 20in)
Beaner (21 3/8in)
Paul (23in)

I am not sure what conclusions to make, though I do think that there are some very small heads in our family and there will be some very large ones!! We learned that by age 10 your head size is 96% it's full size. You do the math.

The Swing

B was nervous but excited..

Her adventure was about to begin with her sister and dad...

Her adventure on The Swing...

They almost made it to the top, but B was in charge of letting the tractor know when it was high enough. The top was at the top of the pole which you can't even see in the shot. It was really, really, high. Proud of them though that they went as high as they did! They are braver than I!

A Day At Camp

I remember camp as a kid. Being away from home for a week was such a huge thing, meeting new friends and doing crazy stuff at night with flashlights were all a major part of camp. Swimming in the lake and eating way too much candy were also high on the list. I must say though that this camp that Cici will go to in the summer may take the cake as far as fun activities go. Camp has come a long way in entertaining kids!

So, we went to check out the camp this weekend and took in some of the fun that Cici will have this summer.

There is an obstacle course.

There are a few things that I am afraid of or grossed out by that I need to be brave about now that I am a mother. Thunderstorms, spiders, heights and these guys..

They were EVERYWHERE! These tent caterpillars were on a railing on one of the cabins. Just a glimpse into our nightmare at camp! Every 7 years there is an infestation of these guys and it happens to be this year! You couldn't get away from them. Standing in the grass, even walking through the grass you would have several hitch a ride on your leg. They would fall out of trees on to you. Sitting eating lunch you would have several crawling on you. A few even hitched a ride home in my in law's car and we found them the next day at their place! Gross. The good news I hope is that they will all be morphed into their better selves by the time camp comes.... though they might have problems then with moths!!

The crafting tent was a bit of respite from them though, so we stayed there as long as we could!

The beach at this camp is amazing, tons of fun blow up things to play on.  Boats to pull you around on and paddle surfing.

Cici tried to get in the water this way but realized that the ocean was crazy cold!
She did manage to walk in and play a bit but was short lived because she was freezing. They had more fun anyway catching baby crabs on the beach.

I stayed on the Island for a few more days as Paul needed to head back to work. I had a relaxing time and us girls joined "Grandma" (Paul's mom) for tea at this place, it was lovely.

Here's a little game for you.
Try to guess what activity at the camp these three did.
I will post the answer and some video of said activity soon!

We are going to the camp tomorrow where Grace will be going alone for a week in the summer. We get to check out all the awesome stuff they have and get fed camp food. A real camp experience! Should be great.

My New Moto

The other night Cici worked herself up into an emotional frenzy. If you are a parent of a preteen, you know what I mean. Nothing could console her, she was beyond calming down. We stayed calm and told her to take some time to calm down and come back and we would talk in normal voices about the problem. In her hysterics she told Paul that it always helps her to do two things to calm down.

Drink water and pray.

This is what she did and it worked.

I have decided that this should be my new Moto and a slogan for many things.

Fighting with your spouse?
Drink Water and Pray.

Road Rage?
Drink Water and Pray.

Stressed about a test?
Drink Water and Pray.

Stub your toe?
Drink Water and Pray.
