Fall Festival

Today J Man and I had great fun at his "school", there was a fall festival and he had tons of fun.

He got to get real messy painting with corn.

He had fun in the ball pit and making up games that involved throwing balls!

There were lots of crafting and painting in creative ways.

They had also set up a dirt pile with trucks, between this and the ball pit he was in boy heaven!

There was also face painting, he wanted to be a cat. He spent the rest of the day crawling and meowing like a cat!

Wycliff Fun

Every year as a church we have a fall social event. It is tons of fun, we cook lots of chile, have a dessert making contest, games for the kids and of course Neufie Horseshoes.. otherwise known as Ladder Golf.

This was J Man's very first egg and spoon race, he loved it!

The girl's are pros at it now!

One of the highlights was a spontaneous race of Tonka Trucks. It is tradition that kids bring their Tonka Trucks to this event, it was so perfect that there was a place to race them too!

We were so thankful that the rain held off, it made the event so much more fun. We ate WAY too much chile and desserts. Sadly though, Paul didn't win the dessert contest and we could not retain our championship title in "Ladder Golf", we did come a close second though!

The Perfect Fall Lunch

Yummm, I have grown in appreciation of oatmeal and when Paul suggested it for lunch today I got all excited. It was so good and perfect for a cool fall day.

Simmer whole oats for around 5 minutes
In frying pan cook up some cut apple (from your tree), blueberries, pecans
Combine both delicacies and garnish with brown sugar, cinnamon, milk and raisins
Enjoy!

My husband is a Photographer

Wanna see my husband's photography skills... check out the header for the website he is helping his friend with. He did a good job on the pic (I will take a bit of credit here to say that I showed him how to achieve movement in TV mode), but it turned out just how he wanted! Wayne is also doing a great job on getting the website going too!

Driftwood

I am experimenting with presets for photo editing. There are tons of free ones to choose from and some of them are really good. I am in love right now with Driftwood.

Signs you live in the Kootenays

What follows is an email my husband just sent me.....

I'm sitting in starbucks, trying to be civilized and just outside the window two hunting dudes pulled up with a skinned animal in the back. Now they are inside the shop and a crow is devouring the meat. I'm trying to cherish these unique Kootenay moments.

Ya, we live in the Kootenays.

Picture Day

Today is picture day at school. The day began with some tears about getting hair all neat but then the girl's were off to get their 3rd and 1st grade year immortalized on "film". The Man'rs and I are hanging out here all day, cleaning, laundry, more cleaning. There is so much to do on our house before it is listed.

J Man is pretending to be a cat right now, he is naked (as usual) and was warming his rump in front of the heater. I would have taken a picture but Paul is playing photographer today in Cranbrook. He is helping a pastor there get his website up and going. I took some picks of our friend the other week at Starbucks but Paul is gonna get some more street shots for the site.

On a more serious note, it has been a really emotional week for me. Having the news begin to spread that we are moving has been hard but everyone has been so supportive. There have been lots of hugs and tears but I am glad that we can talk openly about it now. It was really hard telling the kids on Sat, Cici is pretty upset but can see the upside to being close to family... and Chuck E Cheese! She keeps asking if she will be old enough to sit in the front seat of the moving truck with dad!

Ok, lets get more lighthearted again...... wait the phone is ringing........ok I am back....

oh, ya, I am gonna make B's birthday invites today and get them out to girl's in her class this afternoon after school. She is having a hard time playing with girl's in her class so I thought this could break the ice for her. I can't believe that she will be 6 soon!

In honour of picture day today, here are my sweeties......

Sign of Fall

Signs of Fall... in Kimberley...

Leaves changing in August
Your tomatoes dying, your peas thriving
Your grass slowing turning brown
Apples falling from your trees
The deer turning from brown to grey, fawns are spotless
The deer eating more of what they aren't supposed to like.
4 point Bucks in your yard waiting for the Rut
Stink Bugs in your house
Snow on the mountains
And a new sign not seen before... this

Fall is here.

Amazing Paint

Isn't amazing what a little paint can do? Here is our transformed basement, from very dark and scary panelling to bright inviting panelling! Well, this is only the primer coat, but still what a difference, even the carpet looks better!

How to get more followers on your blog

I have found the secret, the secret of how to get more followers on your blog. I thought I knew. Post cool and cute pictures of my kids, reveal deep dark secrets about myself, ponder life's questions... nope, the answer is....

Blog about your dog!

How is it that my mom wrote ONE post on her new blog a few days ago and now already has 13 followers, most of them people she doesn't' even know?! I need to get a dog and start blogging about it.

Wait, that itch, that puppy dreaming I have been doing lately has faded. Not only has it faded but it is being confirmed that getting a dog is not for us right now. Gracie's best friend who lives down the street called last night.. "I GOT A PUPPY", she squeals into the phone. Later after the kids are in bed I get a call from her mom. She is wondering if we still have the crate we had for Penny. I bring it over and see a tiny, adorable Blue Heeler puppy, boy is she cute, I start to melt. We chat a bunch about crates, how to feed, when they need to go out... "Will she cry all night?" "Yup" I say, then leave feeling a ting of puppy weakness creeping back in. Paul talked with her this morning at school and found out that puppy went back home, last night. That confirms it, I knew this puppy thing isn't for us right now. Oh well, I guess I am doomed to have only a few followers on my blog, no doggy blogging for this girl, well, not yet at least!

Movie in the Park

Last night I did something I have never done before. I have been to drive-ins before, but never sat out on the grass in close to freezing temps to watch a movie on a 3 storey screen before! It was so much fun. The girl's and I packed up as many blankets as we could, brought our stuffies and hot chocolate and setting down on the grass for the show. As it began to get dark the park filled up, friends came and sat with us and then the show began. We watched How to Train a Dragon. It was a good show but the experience of snuggling with my girls in the cold watching a movie will be on the top of my list as favourite memories.

Field Trip

J Man and I have been having a great time together this week as the girls are in school. We have gotten the basement ready to paint, went to "school" yesterday morning (strong start play group) and even have plans to start skating next week. Today though we went on a field trip, can you guess where?
