dare I ... a post without pictures??

Yes, I dare.

Spring has sprung and with it comes new life, excitement and hope... hope that it will not snow anymore!!

As I drove Gracie to school today I noticed that the trees were GREEN! They were shinning in the sun and had beautiful green baby leaves all on them.

I did the same drive many times yesterday and didn't notice them. Where they even there or did spring just spring up overnight? I have been watching our backyard signs of spring, our apple tree is beginning to bud, our tulips are out of the ground and our grass is greening up quickly thanks to the kids sprinkler fun. But all these signs seem to have a progress that is measurable. Not these trees though.

There are two options. The trees did sprout amazing green leaves overnight and it was an amazingly quick process, or, they were there yesterday.. I just didn't notice. For some reason, my eyes were opened to their buds today. The second option seems more logical. I saw them, they were beautiful. Why hadn't I seen them yesterday?

This has been another reminder of how God reveals truth to us. Just because I didn't see the buds yesterday didn't mean that they weren't there, my eyes were opened to the truth today. I don't know why God decides to open our eyes when He does, but I trust in Him to open them at the right time.

I am praying that God will open my eyes to the things He needs to at the right time. Right now, I seem to be on a journey of seeing my marriage with lenses of TRUTH instead of how I WANT to see my marriage. I am excited to take a marriage counseling class with Paul. There are many books to read and I am excited to be involved with the texts and see what God reveals to me about my marriage. Truth is often not pretty, it often gets real messy but I don't want to see my marriage with any other lens.

There, my post with no pictures is done, and I hope you will forgive me this once! Speaking of pictures, I have been having too much fun editing and creating with my pictures, perhaps I will post some of my favs soon!

Keep your eyes open!

Fun in the Sun

It was snowing 10 days ago....

but this was today....

It was above 20 degrees today, and should be 25 or higher tomorrow! We are enjoying this taste of summer, but it won't last long, rain and cooler temps for later this week.

But for now, this is our sign of hope..

Old School Fun

We headed to Fairmont Hot Springs last night for a spur of the moment getaway, we had lots of fun, the pools were very relaxing and the kids loved our hotel room. I will give more pics and details later, but for now, here is some old school fun.

Our friends are the Coolest!

We were cool, ok, maybe we still are, but now we have some competition. What you say? Yes, we are not the coolest parents on the street anymore. How did this happen?? Well, when you don't have a HUGE BOUNCY CASTLE you just are not the coolest anymore. Our friends across the street out did us, one upped us, are more superior than us in the cool parent category... ok that is enough. I am not bitter at all because we get to use the awesome bouncy castle too!!! Let me say, the kids LOVE it!! Who wouldn't love having a carnival in your own backyard! It is tons of fun and are blessed that we have friends willing to share! Here is some of the fun we had today.

"Good" Friday

It is Easter, I really like Easter, usually it is warm and we can be outside. I really like working this time of year too, all the cool flowers we can get in... and not to be left behind.... celebrating what my Savior has done for me!

Last night we held a Tenebrae service at church. Paul had set it all up with lots of candles and as we did readings and somber hymns we blew them out.

It was a powerful service, a time to reflect on what Christ went through on that Thurs evening and following day.

Most Good Friday services I have been apart of have tried to be somber and reflective, but have mostly come across as rejoicing and uplifting. It was quite a change to have quietness, blow out candles, have communion, and leave in silence and darkness. I really enjoyed it and the response from the group of people who also attended has been great too.

I look forward to Sunday's service to rejoice in the power and meaning of Christ's resurection! Oh, also to be a witness to Cici stepping in faith in Baptism... I am sooooo excited!

So it is Good Friday and I thought it would be fun to share some of the good... and bad that has happened today.

Let's start with the bad.....

Bad Dog Penny....

Another bad, I am still really sick..

OK, enough with the bad, on the the good...

Penny met a "friend", a 10 month old Border Collie at the park today and they played HARD, then the actually met again on our street this evening, and played some more! She is gonna sleep real well tonight.

Another good thing, Gracie can ride a two wheeler bike now!!

She just hopped on tonight and went for it! She is very proud of herself and we are proud of her.

Have I mentioned how excited I am for her getting baptized on Sunday!! Oh, and to see my mom tomorrow, so excited about that too!

There certainly is more good in Good Friday than bad, how was your Good Friday?
